The king of Congolese rumba, Fally Ipupa , celebrates twenty years of career on December 12 at the ING Arena . This concert promises to be unmissable. Alongside Nigeria’s Burna Boy, the Kinshasa native has become one of the biggest stars on the African continent since his beginnings within Quartier Latin, under the direction of Koffi Olomidé. In Brussels, Fally Ipupa will revisit the great classics of a career marked by eight albums, including XX. Released on April 17, this album reached number one on the French Top Albums chart , making him the first African artist still living in Africa to achieve this prestigious ranking. While the ING Arena will transform into a temple of Congolese music for one wild evening, it’s also because Fally Ipupa is a true performer. Surrounded by his musicians and dancers, he delivers a high-energy show, driven by dance and an innate sense of spectacle. On May 2 and 3, he filled the Stade de France in Paris twice, with several prestigious guests including Youssou N’Dour and Theodora. Musically, Fally Ipupa remains true to his Congolese roots, particularly rumba, carried before him by Henri Bowane, Franco, and Papa Wemba . He has managed to modernize this heritage, as well as ndombolo, by incorporating urban, R&B, hip-hop, and afropop influences. The result is a personal, accessible, and festive musical universe, sure to captivate the ING Arena audience.
