ABOUT
In a prison where the worst bars are the ones you can't see, what price would you pay for your freedom? Post-war Spain, late 1940s. In a women's prison, cold, hunger and cruelty shape every single day. Then the news arrives: for the Saint Perpetuus Jubilee, held only once every ten years, the bishop will pardon one single inmate. Prostitutes, political prisoners, thieves and murderers. Every one of them believes she deserves it. As the day approaches, hidden conflicts erupt and each woman fights for her freedom in her own way. An electrifying ensemble drama that grips you from the first second and moves you until the final scene. Presas is a tribute to freedom and to solidarity in the face of adversity, and a reminder that such conditions still exist in other parts of the world today. A cult play by Ignacio del Moral and Verónica Fernández, staged by Spain's Centro Dramático Nacional in 2007 and winner of over 40 awards at national amateur theatre competitions.
