I’m the hug (Mathilde Luijten, Abel Ghekiere, Simon Michelena, and Orlan Ghekiere) moves between gentle and exuberant, at times menacing and heavy, then light and playful. Beneath the surface lie heavy themes, yet they are carried with lightness. Each bringing their own distinct sound, the musicians blend singer-songwriter, folk, indie pop, and jazz into an intimate and playful sound that offers comfort without soothing, and touches without force. Following their debut EP Four Songs (2023), the band will release their debut album Still Blossoming on March 3, 2027: a fully autonomous artistic statement, self-produced, self- recorded, and self-released by the band. A debut album that navigates between solitude and connection, between fear and hope, and between the unpredictability of life and the beauty of small things.
