🌟 Release | Belgian garage rock with raw energy, between rock ’n’ roll and garage punk

"une sorte d’étalon de ce qui se fait de mieux en équilibre entre punk rock et rock garage" Rolling Stone Some bands play rock ’n’ roll. The Sha-La-Lees live it. In 2026, the Belgian four-piece returns with the album ‘Midnight Crying’ . These are songs that come straight from the heart—for The Sha-La-Lees, it’s all about the very essence of rock ’n’ roll. Following ‘Garbage Dreams’ (2023) and ‘Hex’ (2025), the band begins a new chapter. ‘Midnight Crying’ was recorded at DAFT Studios, produced by the band itself, and mixed by Alain Johannes, known for his work with Queens of the Stone Age, Chris Cornell, and Them Crooked Vultures. Johannes was deeply impressed by the band’s songwriting and musical craftsmanship. With roots in groups such as The Sore Losers, El Guapo Stuntteam, The Kik, The Spades, and The Hydromatics, The Sha-La-Lees draw from a profound love for garage, rhythm & blues, beat music, and raw, unpolished rock ’n’ roll. Think of influences like Dead Moon, MC5, Reigning Sound, and Love, yet delivered with a distinct, signature style. This is no retro-exercise,, these are timeless songs. The band has performed at festivals including Zwarte Cross, Jera On Air, Rock Herk, Sjock Festival, Cosmic Trip, and Les Nuits Botanique, and has shared the stage with bands such as The Hives and The Datsuns. Through their high-energy live shows, they are building a steady international following. In October 2026, the band will head to Japan for the first time. Meanwhile, The Sha-La-Lees are focussing more firmly on France, Germany, and Scandinavia. With ‘Midnight Crying’ , the four-piece proves that rock ’n’ roll is very much alive and kicking. As long as there are bands that write songs like these and play them with their heart and soul, things are in good hands!
